Ankündigung des Verlages:
"This second volume about Elvis Presley in our country, occupies the time period from 1970 to 1990. The vision we have of Elvis in Spain is just as confusing and biased as that of his greatest fame, with the peculiarity that Presley is He is already pigeonholed as a character from the past, in an exercise in modernity that is so typical of our country. The final touch will be the appearance of an infectious and infamous book, written by Gaspar Fraga in 1974, which will be refuted page by page from this book.
Despite this, musical publications see the light of day that not only value his legacy and the records of the time, but also great journalists in the country dedicate articles and comments on records to him.
The premiere of "That's the Way It Is" in 1971 will appear in its pages, a year after its premiere in the United States, the rebroadcast of "Aloha From Hawaii" and the problems that occurred during its broadcast in our country, the treatment given in the Spanish newspapers to the death of Elvis, the premiere of the musical dedicated to him in 1978 and the decline of his figure that did not recover until 1987, with a review of his legacy by both RCA and of radio and television stations (although in dribs and drabs).
In this book of study and documentation, Rubén Olivares Rosell makes a portrait of the Spain of 1970 that received Elvis' records and films, the news that was written about him in the local newspapers, contrasting and refuting the preconceived ideas and stereotypes that "El Rey" has a complete discography, including albums by artists who covered him in the 70s and 80s and, above all, a passionate defense of his artistic legacy and his music."

"A tour that started on March 28 which took Elvis to Chicago, St. Louis, Fort Wayne, Detroit, Buffalo, Toronto and Ottawa ended in Philadelphia. He gave four shows at the Sports Arena on April 5th and 6th.
He then returned home to Audubon Drive in Memphis. During this stay, he visited Sam Phillips at home several times, once with disc jockey Dewey Phillips and friends. In the middle of the month he visited his new acquisition, Graceland, which was being renovated. He showed it to Yvonne Lyme, an actress who had a small role in Loving You. On the 22nd, the legendary gates were installed. Elvis would not move into Graceland until June 1957.
On the 27th, Elvis boarded a train to Los Angeles to film his new movie, still titled Jailhouse Rock. On the 30th, he went to Radio Recorders, where he met Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller for the first time, and began working on the movie’s songs. The iconic “Jailhouse Rock” was recorded that day."

"A fresh biography of legendary entertainment manager Colonel Tom Parker, with a contrarian and corrective point of view.
Colonel Tom Parker, often reviled in his time, led the strategy from the earliest days of Elvis's career. Together, they built the most legendary partnership in show business. For the first time, Colonel Parker's story is told by an insider, Greg McDonald, who worked under Parker for years. Never-before-heard stories of Parker's collaboration with Elvis reveal the man behind the legend and the strategies that made Elvis a commercial groundbreaker.
Ingrained lore has it that Parker took advantage of "poor country boy" Elvis to sign the singer who became "The King". But Elvis and the Colonel shows that Elvis was not foolish when it came to business arrangements.
This book is full of stories of innovations Parker made with his star client, including the ingenious merchandising (eg, selling both "I love Elvis" and "I hate Elvis" buttons), licensing and branding, from suits to toys, ashtrays to guitars, establishing The King as an artist-in-residence in Las Vegas and creating televised concert events, like Elvis' Christmas special.
Many of the practices Parker established are still deployed today by most major agencies. Parker's experience as a carny and an immigrant shaped his management style when he was at his peak, showing how he adapted big top practices to the big time. The heart of Elvis and the Colonel is the long, strong, warm and complex relationship between two iconic men."
